Posh Houses of The Felling

Shanid House was built for James McGuinness and family who had a large shop on The Felling High Street. It was named after a castle in Ireland in the area he hailed from.

We know it was still being occupied by Mrs E. McGuinness in 1918 because her 30 year old son James Stewart McGuinness, serving, during WWI, with the Royal Irish Regiment 7th (South Irish Horse) Bn., was killed on 8th August 1918
